Three Nissan vehicles recently earned JD Power APEAL awards. This test looks at automotive performance, execution, and layout on new models. The all-new 2016 Nissan TITAN XD took first for the Large Light Duty Pickup segment, the Maxima won the Large Car segment, and the Altima came in second for the Midsize Car segment.
According to Nissan, the JD Power APEAL awards are given on the basis of customer satisfaction and surveys. In other words, Nissan owners were so satisfied with their driving experience, that they ranked three models among the highest in the industry. Many especially noted the sense of safety provided by Nissan Safety Shield technologies like Predictive Forward Collision Warning, Blind Spot Warning, and more.
“It is gratifying to see three vehicles that are either all-new or redesigned receive such high marks from customers,” said Christian Meunier, VP of Sales and Marketing for Nissan. “And along with our best-selling sedans and crossovers, Nissan is providing more options as we launch the ‘Year of the Truck’ with our all-new TITAN and TITAN XD trucks.”
This is the 21st year in a row for the JD Power APEAL survey. Models are ranked on a 1,000-point overall scale. The TITAN scored an 867, the Maxima had 857, and the Altima had 824 points. The Murano and Sentra also scored high, at 831 and 814. This is pretty impressive for Nissan, especially considering the fact the industry average was just 801 points.

Nissan first introduced its innovative “No Charge to Charge” program in July 2014, offering Nissan LEAF owners or leasees in certain areas the opportunity to charge their cars for free. At first available to just 10 markets, the program has since expanded and is now available in 38 markets across the country.
Officials say “the economics are easy” when it comes to the Nissan “No Charge to Charge” program. With public charging stations still be relatively uncommon, car buyers are still hesitant to jump into the electric car market, especially with their somewhat limited range. A big draw of electric cars is that they’re money savers because they don’t use any gasoline, so free public charging incentivizes buying electric cars even more.
Public charging is necessary to give electric car drivers more range confidence, and having the option of free charging is a major draw over gasoline, for which prices have noticeably risen in the last few months.
The public chargers Nissan has developed can recharge a LEAF from 0% battery to 80% in less than 30 minutes. This will be even more of a benefit when the next-generation LEAF is released in 2018 with a much longer range than its current range. The current LEAF sells for an affordable $21,510 after federal tax incentives.

So you’re in the market for a new car. Where do you start? Usually many people turn to the Internet to begin their research. There are so many resources to look at- local dealership sites, the OEM site, Edmunds, and Craigslist.
Now, sometimes Craigslist can get a bad rap for scams and tricks. But some people prefer it. Here’s a few reasons to buy from a dealership:
Financing options- If you purchase through Craigslist, the seller will most likely need and want all the money up front. When you purchase at a dealership, you’ll be able to have a monthly payment that fits your budget.
Car Background Knowledge- A dealership has lots of used cars to look at. These days, almost all of them come with a CarFax report to tell you all about the car’s past- including accidents, service appointments, the number of previous owners and the miles on the car. You could talk to the Craigslist seller for days and they could still be hiding very important information from you.
Options- You’ll have so many used car options to choose from if you buy used from a dealership. Not only do they have used and certified pre-owned of their own make, but they’ll also have different makes and models. This is great for someone who wants to shop around and see all their options.
If you’re not the risky type, come in to Terry Chapin Nissan and we’ll get you a great deal on a used or Certified Pre-Owned Nissan.
